TOTBT Day 5: Jessica-Chick Lit Teens

Jessica from Chick-Lit Teens is here today to share her...
Top 5 literary characters/things that give her chills! Enjoy!

October means Halloween, the Day of the Dead, All Hallows Eve – any way you spin it it’s a celebration of all the things that go bump in the night. From zombies to vampires everything fantastical is celebrated for one month. Which, of course, has me thinking about all of the wonderful paranormal creatures in YA, and so I give you (in no particular order), five literary people, places, and things that give me the chills:

1.The Tree of All Souls from The Sweet Far Thing by Libba Bray

In all honesty, the entirety of the Winterlands and its inhabitants frightened me to some extent, but The Tree of All Souls, specifically, creeped me out. The concept of the tree was awesome and even reading it I found it cool. However, I can’t deny that it definitely has the horror-move-factor going on.

2. Daughters of the Moon by Lynne Ewing
This is one of the few (if only) books I’ve returned without finishing. The reason: I was too darn scared to read it! I like reading at night, right before bed, and the first two chapters of this book had me scared out of my wits. I love the story idea, but stalkers in dark alley ways? Eeek!

3.The stalker (sorry, no spoilers here) from Deadly Little Secret by Laurie Stolarz
You may have noticed a pattern here – I don’t do well with stalkers. Nope, not one bit. This book was a bit less terrifying than Daughters of the Moon, but I still wouldn’t want to be caught reading it after dark.

4. The possessed doll from Bad Girls Don’t Die by Katie Alender
Don’t get me wrong, I love dolls, I really do. I had my own porcelain dolls growing up, but this doll was freaking scary! I’m sorry but I draw the line at possessed dolls with the power to take over little girls.

5. The Poppy Warriors from Rebel Angels and The Sweet Far Thing by Libba Bray
I know, I know, I already mentioned these books once, but, in my defense, Libba Bray is good at creeping me out. I wouldn’t say that it’s the Poppy Warriors in particular that really creep me out, though they do have their moments, mostly it’s their castle. Now, I don’t want to give too much away, but if you’ve read the book you know what I mean. Creepy!

Oh Man Jessica i am with you! All of those items would give me chills too! Stalkers' and possessed dolls... I think ill pass! Thanks for sharing your AWSOME list with us! Make sure to check out Jessica's Blog- Chick lit teen HERE!
